oOoOo Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

This is the supplemental privacy policy for oOoOo (package io.chkdsklabs.ooooo), a free, ad-supported Android game by CHKDSK Labs distributed through Google Play. It should be read alongside our company-wide Privacy Policy, which sets the baseline for all CHKDSK Labs products. Where this document is more specific, it controls for oOoOo.

1. The Short Version

  • oOoOo has no CHKDSK Labs accounts and no CHKDSK Labs servers. We never see your name or email. If you sign in to Play Games Services, the game reports gameplay statistics — how high a run got, how long it lasted — which we use to tune the difficulty.
  • The game can send anonymous play data to help decide what to build next, but only if you say yes. It is off on a fresh install, you are asked plainly, and you can turn it off again in Settings at any time.
  • There are no in-app purchases. The game is free and the whole thing is paid for by ads.
  • Your progress lives on your device. If you sign in to Play Games Services, a small snapshot of it also lives in your Google account.
  • Advertising (Google AdMob), leaderboards, achievements and gameplay statistics (Google Play Games Services), and distribution (Google Play) are handled by Google, and those services process device and account data as described below.

2. What We Collect

No CHKDSK Labs server ever hears from this game. We operate no backend for oOoOo, and the app contains no crash-reporting SDK. It does include Google Analytics for Firebase, which is disabled in the app's manifest and stays that way unless you opt in — see Section 6. While you are signed in to Play Games Services, the game reports the gameplay statistics described below; those go to Google, and we read them through Play Console rather than collecting them ourselves. Everything else the game stores about you it stores on your device (see Section 7), and everything it sends goes to Google rather than to any system of ours.

3. Distribution (Google Play)

oOoOo is distributed through Google Play. Installation, updates, and any review you leave are handled by Google under its own terms and privacy policy. As a Play developer we can see aggregated, non-identifying statistics in Play Console — install and uninstall counts, crash and ANR clusters, device and country breakdowns, ratings and reviews. That aggregate reporting is produced by Google. The game does send gameplay statistics of its own through Play Games Services — see Section 5 — but nothing to a CHKDSK Labs server; we do not run one.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

oOoOo shows ads served by Google AdMob in three places: a banner along the bottom of the screen, an interstitial between runs, and a rewarded ad you can choose to watch to continue a run you just lost. The rewarded ad is entirely optional — declining it costs you nothing but the run.

To serve and measure those ads, Google and its ad technology partners may collect and process:

  • Device identifiers, including the Android advertising ID (the app declares the AD_ID permission for this reason)
  • IP address and coarse location derived from it
  • Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, rewarded-ad completions)
  • General device and app information (model, OS version)

This processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. In the EEA, UK, and other consent regions, the game shows Google's User Messaging Platform consent form on first launch and the ads SDK is not initialised at all until that form has been resolved — no ad is requested before you have answered it. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization entirely, in Android's system settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).

5. Play Games Services (Optional)

Leaderboards, achievements, cloud saves, and gameplay statistics use Google Play Games Services, which is tied to your Google account and governed by Google's privacy policy. Signing in is optional and the game never demands it. Signed out, every one of these features quietly becomes a no-op and the game keeps a local-only copy instead.

While signed in, the game sends:

  • Leaderboards — your best score and your best altitude in feet, submitted to two public leaderboards under your Play Games gamer profile
  • Achievements — unlock and progress signals for eleven achievements, including lifetime counts of bricks broken and runs played
  • Saved Games — a single small JSON snapshot holding best score, best altitude, lifetime bricks broken, and runs played
  • Gameplay statistics — at the end of each run, the altitude reached, how long the run lasted in game time, and the longest chain it managed; a marker when a run passes 15,000 or 30,000 feet; and a count of how many rewarded-ad continues you have taken. We use these to tune the difficulty.

Your sound and music preferences are deliberately excluded from the snapshot, and no input data — where or when you tapped — is recorded anywhere. Syncing is a merge, not a download — the better value of each field wins on both sides — so signing in cannot silently overwrite progress you made offline.

Your Play Games profile visibility, and the deletion of Play Games data including saved games, are managed in your Google account rather than by us.

6. Anonymous Play Data (Optional, Off by Default)

oOoOo can send anonymous notes about how a game went — how far you climbed, which mode you played, which power-ups you picked up, whether you took the free continue, and which tutorial cards you were shown. It is used for one thing: deciding what to build and change next.

This is off unless you turn it on. Collection is disabled in the app's manifest, so a fresh install sends nothing at all — not even a first-open event — before anyone has been asked, and you are asked plainly rather than through a pre-ticked box. You can turn it off again whenever you like in Settings, under PLAY DATA.

No name, no email address, and no account are involved. The data is processed by Google Analytics for Firebase and is tied to a randomly generated identifier for your app installation, not to you. Alongside what the game sends, Google records your device model, country, language, and app version.

Turning the setting off stops collection and discards that identifier, so anything sent afterwards — if you ever turn it back on — cannot be connected to what came before. Data is retained for two months and is then deleted automatically; if you would like something removed sooner, email jay@chkdsklabs.io. Ad personalization is not enabled by this setting, and this data is not used to target ads.

7. Local Device Storage

The game keeps best score, best altitude, lifetime bricks broken, runs played, how many rewarded-ad continues you have taken, your answer to the play-data question above, and your sound, music, and display toggles in a private preferences file inside the app's own storage. That is the entire save file. The file itself is never uploaded anywhere; the only values from it that leave the device are the ones listed in Section 5. Uninstalling the game or clearing its app data deletes it; if you were signed in to Play Games Services, the cloud snapshot described above survives until you delete it from your Google account.

8. Network Access and Permissions

oOoOo requests three permissions and no more: INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, used by the ads and Play Games SDKs, and AD_ID, used for ad serving as described above. The game asks for no runtime permissions at all — no location, no camera, no microphone, no contacts, no storage. The simulation, the artwork, and the soundtrack are all local, so with the network off everything except ads and Play Games keeps working.

9. Children's Privacy

oOoOo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Ad serving is configured through Google's tools consistent with the game's content rating and Play's Families policy requirements.

10. Your Rights and Choices

  • Ad personalization — reset or delete your advertising ID in Android system settings, or change your consent choice through Google's ad settings
  • Play Games — stay signed out and the game never contacts Play Games Services, gameplay statistics included; leaderboard, achievement, saved-game and gameplay-statistics data can be deleted from your Google account
  • Anonymous play data — leave it off, or switch it off later in Settings under PLAY DATA; switching it off discards the installation identifier it was tied to, and what was already sent ages out within two months
  • Deletion — clear the app's data or uninstall to erase everything stored locally
  • Data held by Google — exercise rights over ad, Play, and Play Games data directly with Google via your Google account controls

Since we hold no personal data about you, access/correction/ portability requests to CHKDSK Labs will come back empty — but the rights described in the company-wide policy apply all the same.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the game or applicable law changes. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision; material changes will be noted on this page.
